What can you do to cut your risk of cancer?
- Exercise regularly
- Control your weight
- Reduce alcohol intake
- Give up smoking
- Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables
- Eat super foods
- Protect yourself from the sun and take care not to burn
Superfoods
It has always been known that diet plays an important role in our health and well-being. Recent studies have shown that eating regular 'super foods' can help to reduce our risk of cancer. Phytonutrients and phytochemicals reduce cancer risk, and can be found in foods such as:
- Berries - blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, raspberries
- Broccoli and cauliflower
- Tomatoes and tomato products, e.g. ketchup
- Butternut squash and carrots
- Garlic and onions
Checking Your Breasts
When checking your breasts always look for signs of….
- Lumps in breasts and the area up to and around the armpits
- Nipple discharge, rash or changes in position, or inversion (turning inwards)
- Puckering or dimpling of the skin Discomfort or pain in one breast that differs from the other
- Any changes in shape, appearance, symmetry or feel of your breasts
